Play Ball or Drink Coffee at Seattle’s Safeco Field?

By: Michael Allen Smith

I took a few action shots last night at Seattle’s Safeco Field.  There may have been a Seattle Mariner baseball game going on as well.  I don’t recall.   ;)

I think the coffee was from Starbucks, although I also saw a sign for Caffe Appassionato.  Needless to say I didn’t swing at that pitch.

I would argue their hop selection was less than “good” as well.

Only $4.75 for a large coffee.

Where they make the artisan espresso drinks.  Yuck!

If you find yourself with a little extra time before the game, I suggest seeking out Zeitgeist Coffee at 171 S Jackson St.  It is a few blocks from the stadium and they prepare excellent espresso drinks.

  • I’ve been to a lot of ballparks, but I’m still looking for a good cup of coffee at a ball game. I know it’s a lot to ask for and people don’t go to a game to drink coffee, but I’d just like one halfway decent cup just once.

  • If Seattle doesn’t step up to the plate and serve up some good ballpark coffee, who on earth will?? My hope for this summer is to find a good place near Fenway Park for a pre-game coffee and report back. My trip to the neighborhood last month, alas, resulted only in an Ominous Signs post:

    :(

  • In addition to Zeitgeist there are a few other excellent coffee places near the Seattle stadium:

    All City Coffee
    Trabant
Sodo (haven’t been to this one, but I got a strong referral)
