It’s an excellent article. One thing I did find a bit funny though was the photo of a bag of green Kona coffee beans. Kona wouldn’t be my first choice of coffees if I’m trying to get the most bag for my buck out of my coffee

At first glance that is true.
However, premium and island coffees tend to have an even greater mark up when it comes to roasting. Home roasting is a great way to experience Kona at a fraction of the cost.

Great article! I just started roasting my own beans about a month ago. I bought a cast iron pan from Marshals for 12 bucks and I do it on the bbq and stove (depending on the weather). The taste of home roasted coffee is far superior and cheaper than any other coffee.

Hi Michael,
I just wanted to remind people that Kuma Coffee also sells greens via our website for those who would rather roast at home. http://www.kumacoffee.com

@Mark – $5/lb for your espresso blend is good deal. I will be ordering some in 2010.
