My name is Michael Allen Smith (MAS) and this is my site Coffee Hero. Coffee Hero is a guide to celebrate the amazing coffee culture found in Seattle, Washington. After having lived in Columbus, Tampa, Northern Virginia and San Diego, I can tell you that the legends are true. There are a lot of great coffee houses, roasters and baristas in Seattle.

Independent and Local
I am 100% independent. I do not work for any coffee business and never have. Since 1999 I have been publishing the coffee website INeedCoffee. That site is for fans of coffee to celebrate their favorite beverage. Coffee Hero puts a local spin on the quest for great coffee. The Seattle coffee scene is large enough to justify its own website.
Espresso First
My drink is almost always espresso. No milk and no sugar. About 5% of the time, I might order a non-espresso brewed coffee drink. I say this because anybody can get a large mocha to taste good. It takes skill to get espresso right. So if I bash your favorite coffee house, it is because I didn’t like the espresso. I am also an unapologetic fan of quality tea and will on occasion highlight the best tea in Seattle.
